What is PresbyLASIK? Why is it Preferred?

Some changes occur in our eyes due to aging. Presbyopia is one of these changes. In the disease, which we can refer to as nearsightedness, the lens of the eye loses its flexibility and the clarity of near vision deteriorates. In this case, patients may need to wear contact lenses or glasses. So, are there different treatment methods for presbyopia? What is PresbyLASIK, which is frequently encountered in this field?

What is PresbyLASIK?

PresbyLASIK (also known as multifocal lasik) is one of the treatment methods in which certain corrections are made on the shape of the cornea and a multifocal cornea is created.

With the corrections made on the cornea, both near and distance vision are improved. With this method, patients can achieve clear vision at far, near and medium distances.

During the application of the method, laser is applied to pre-set areas and the shape of the cornea is changed accordingly.

When evaluated in this way, we can say that the treatment is a personalized eye treatment. Before the operation, detailed measurements are taken depending on the eye structure and the visual needs of the person and the operation is organized accordingly.

What Advantages Does PresbyLASIK Offer?

Presbyopia patients need to wear glasses or contact lenses for comfortable near vision. However, this method eliminates the need for glasses and contact lenses. This will also increase the comfort of life.

On the other hand, since the method is based on LASIK, it offers a fast and effective solution. Both the healing process takes place quickly and the operation stands out as a short and fast operation most of the time.

When all these are evaluated, we can say that the method is a promising approach for the treatment of Presbyopia. What should be considered here is to pay attention to the recommendations of the specialist doctor from the stage of deciding on the treatment to the final operation stage.
