What Causes Burriness in the Eye? What are the Symptoms?

The problem of burring in the eye is one of the most common problems that can affect people of all ages. It can be trivial and temporary, or it can be a sign of bigger problems and directly affect eye health. Considering that it is a broad topic, there is a lot to explain. So let’s look at the details one by one.

What is the problem of burrs in the eye?

Eye burrs are crusts that appear on the outward part of the tear ducts, usually with the drying of the eye discharge. Tears are continuously produced and periodically drained from the tear ducts to keep the eye moist and keep the dirt away. If tears cannot drain from the ducts in a healthy way, burrs begin to form in the corners of the eyes.

If the obstruction is at a high level, burring increases and as a result, the problem of burring in the eye occurs. Of course, we should also say that tear duct obstruction is not the only cause. Let’s list other possible causes just below.

  • Dry Eye If not enough tears are produced, dirt or debris in the eye cannot be removed from the eye at the desired level, which will again cause burrs to appear at the exit points of the tear ducts.
  • Eye Infections: Infections such as eye inflammation can cause the discharge to intensify and as a result, the problem of burring may occur.
  • Allergies: Due to various allergies, it may be possible to face problems such as burrs or sediment formation in the eye.

  • Occurrence of intense currents

If there is a disturbing condition such as burring in the eye that affects the comfort of life, it is important to consult a specialist doctor for a detailed examination.
